Helium Memorial Park

A beautiful park commemorating the United State's discovery of helium in Dexter, an event that marked the town's spot in the history books. Be sure to check out the historical marker at the intersection of K15 and Hwy 166 commemerating the discovery of the helium well and helium plant.

Kansas Vietnam War Memorial

Plans for the Vietnam War Memorial in Winfield began in 1987 when friends who had gathered for a class reunion wanted to find a way to honor their fallen classmates.  The project quickly grew from honoring only Cowley County servicemen to representing all 777 servicemen and nurses from Kansas who lost their lives or are missing in action from the Vietnam War. The memorial is a replica of the Vietnam War memorial in Washington D.C. It was also created as a tribute to servicemen and nurses who served in any world war.

Murals of Winfield

Winfield was named the "Mural Capital of Kansas" in the fall of 1999 by the Kansas Sampler Foundation due to the quantity and quality of its murals.  A committee was then formed to compile information on the murals, thereby cataloging these treasures.

Thee Chapel

Opened in 2015, local residents constructed Thee Chapel from a former oil field house and later a fishing cabin, that was moved to its present location. Thee Chapel was created to an atmosphere of simplicity and reverence of the 1910 era. The pews date back to the era as well as the steeple from a 1900 church in Mulvane. Open to the public from dawn to dusk.

Udall Community Historical Society Museum

An amazing museum displaying artifacts, historical pieces and information related to the history of Udall and Cowley County including the devastating tornado of 1955. Updated directories for 10 local cemeteries, genealogy on Udall families, memorial brick walkway and stone in the park listing lives lost in the tornado.

Open Wednesdays 3-5 pm and Sunday 1-3 pm or by appointment.
