Wellington is home to the annual Wheat Festival the second week in July. This 5-day festival will take place on July 9-13, 2024. This festival includes bands, street dancing, a parade, a car show, a carnival, art, food trucks and more. A unique button can be purchased for $4 to enter attendees into events, prize drawings and contests.
If you’re looking for Wellington history, check out Chisholm Trail Museum. Explore the early days and arrival of the first pioneer families to the Wellington area with three floors of over 20,000 artifacts. Built in 1916 as the Hatcher Hospital and closing its doors after 48 years in 1964, the family graciously donated the building to the Chisholm Trail Museum in 1965.
To keep the fun going, head over to The Panhandle Railroad Museum for railroad memorabilia. This collection is from PH Wiley from his 27 year career as an engineer on the Santa Fe Railroad. Explore various memorabilia such as furniture, uniforms, clocks and watches.
